The world of fitness has been wrecked by the world of CrossFit. This new fitness regiment, which has only been here since 2002, caused so much disruption, businesses had to change their ways. What did CrossFit do that made them change everything?
Well, for starters, they changed the way of working out. Instead of going to the gym and hitting the machines, they took out all the equipment and replaced it with barbells, kettlebells and dumbbells. The whole isolation of muscles were a thing of the past and compound movements were the future. CrossFit’s idea was isolation was only good for that, isolation. Deadlifts replaced hamstring curls, pull ups replaced bicep curls and to top it off, you have coaching. Personal trainers? Out of the picture with the group classes.
What about the way information was being shared? Well, can you believe was giving it out for free?!?! You mean to tell me all the information, all the studies were right there for anyone to read and try themselves? Well, thats what they did, instead of charging for information, they created the CrossFit Journal. People could share information on their workouts or post information regarding movements. The site is still up for you to rummage through all the papers. Give it a look.
This is the worst one of them all. CrossFit changed the way it conducted business. How dare they charged a fixed amount and their the owner come up with their own price of the gym and schedule. Every CrossFit gym was different, no two were the same. So, your typical globo gym were the same anywhere you went, with hidden fees and its such a hassle to cancel. It wasn’t like a CrossFit gym where you could talk directly with the owner or manger and get the problem fixed.
CrossFit did change the game, and I believe for the better. If you haven’t checked out your local box, you should. It’s the best fitness regiment for your health and your life. My personal saying, which I’m going to leave here. “If you want to change your life, do CrossFit, If you want to change the world, teach CrossFit. Until the next time.
